Scrap Fabric Garland

I absolutely love the idea of making use of scrap fabric. I have so much and never know what to make with it. This would be ideal for birthdays or any party at all! It was really fun to make since you get to rip fabric and it doesn't have to look perfect.

Have some twine to use for the stringing. Yarn, hemp, or any other string would probably work too.
Grab some scrap fabric that kind of correlates in colors. These are actually old aprons that I found.

Cut a small nick in the fabric about an inch in width. Some fabric you can just rip and it will stay along that line, others won't. You can make the piece as long as you want just not too short.

Tie them onto the string. I doubled up my twine to make it sturdier.

And there you have it! A gorgeous addition to any window or party!

Quick DIY tidbit:

Here's something that I thought of on a whim. I was at the dollar store and saw these cutesy kid's tights and had to put them to good use!

Cut and wrap them around a vase! Adds a cute flair that can be changed at any time!!

DIY Dessert Tier

The other day while flea market shopping I was searching for a cupcake platter that we could use for our approaching Ladies tea party. I never did find anything that was worthy enough to grace our dainty tables. That is when the idea hit me! Why not make my own? I always pass by vintage floral plates and wonder what I could do with them. I have an addiction to plates, it is a problem that I am trying to cure. But with a few easy finds at thrift stores, you can easily piece this together too!

First find 3 gorgeous plates. Or 2 if you want it to be short.

Then find some candlesticks. Make sure they're not too big, you don't want them to cover the whole plate. (Sorry I didn't edit this one, it was from my phone)
Now this piece might be a little harder to get ahold of. I actually unscrewed it from a small serving dish at the thrift store. Hehe...I was sneaky. This is for the top plate.
Make sure to purchase either gorilla glue or super glue and adhere it to the plate. I also ended up painting my candlesticks white to make it look more shabby chic. I think other colors like turquoise and seafoam green would give it some character too.
Sorry, I didn't take any photos of the making process. I guess that kind of slipped my mind, but you get the idea! Have fun wowing your guests!

Yarn-wrapped Monograms

Sorry about the long break from my blog. I came across this cute idea on Evie's Blog. Her diys are so clever and adorable. Check out this yarn-wrapped monogram, it's really easy to make and will add a lot of character to your walls.

You can use any color yarn you'd like. I chose creme.

Take a cereal box and draw a large letter and cut out.

Wrap and wrap until the whole thing is covered. You'll get a similar end result.

Hope you guys like!!

Geez, it's that time again. Junk drawer dumping.

Yup, the moment I dread most about spring cleaning. Time to pull the junk drawer out and dump everything into a box. It's amazing what you accumulate in a year, I must say I am not proud of the "junk" that was lurking beneath the twisty ties and half eaten m&ms. I'm not sure how a small box can ferment, but it did. Haha, I was like "what the!?" Yea, not cool. So I got rid of the whole junk drawer entirely and revamped it. Take a looksy!

Yellow wallpaper that I found at goodwill! Hooray!
Finally, a new home for my dishtowels!
Now to revamp the kitchen table. I never iron my tablecloths but it made a huge difference!
I love my cork placemats! They're so cheery and delightful.
Spring is here!
Now now, what to do with the junk that was in the drawer? Well of course you gotta recycle it somehow! I've decided to make a pen holder using my tea canister.
Wrap it in bright colored cardstock and slap a label on there and you're done! Easy peasy!

Squishy, fluffy, tufted pillows

Here's one more addition to my couch decor! I made it last night. Frodo seems to like it too.

Anthropologie Coffee?

So I was in Anthropologie the other day and came across this crafty piece. Now for everyone who knows me, I am a coffee addict! So this only makes sense, a coffee filter flower cluster! I will be honest, I probably don't have this many coffee filters but I know who does! Sams!! This just might be my next defeat. Yea, it will definitely be a pain in the rear to dust and clean but if it looks intriguing I'll do it. This is amazing and it will be crafted! I promise you this.

Not the average day...

So this morning I woke up feeling like someone had ran over my head with a semi. Had to call the bossinator and make it a 'sick day'. Ick. But after staying in bed till 4, I woke up with a genius idea! I know, I guess these things just come to me in my sleep or something. Actually, I was browsing through some people's pet photos and thought, "Why not pet collar coats?" So this idea has really excited me and I know its probably not excited Frodo. The plan is to crochet or sew a cover for dog collars that can be for holidays or seasonal. So I've got to hurry and make some for Valentine's Day! This is a must! Frodo has to be the first bischon with a red felted collar and hearts around his neck. :) I will post the finished product soon!!

Shabby Tray Table

So I happened to be in  TFA  (The Future Antiques) the other day and came across the cutest retro turquoise floral metal trays. I stared at them in excitement wondering what I possibly could do with them. Well, now I'm all flustered after seeing what design sponge did with theirs!

Yes, they were a little more creative and stenciled a design on to theirs. Super duper cute! I would love to do this idea for a little girls room! Perfect for their tea parties.
