A day for Bdays!

Saturday was my day off which only happens once in a blue moon, but thank God I did because I had two very important birthday parties on my agenda. My best friend's son's 1st birthday, and one of our youth's sweet sixteen. Decided to capture the day since it was gorgeous out!

I'm pretty sure you can tell that I live in Illinois. Flat lands.

Gotta start the day off right, heart tights! Just like the ones I wore when I was little. hehe.
Hy husband's cousin did an amazing job!

The birthday girl and her preggo sissy.

Her headband that I made for her. Lace & baubles.
I love goodwill. You can always find everything there. Here's a before shot of the top I bought Breanna.
After: Flat flowers, buttons, and embroidered felt.
The origami gift box I made for her birthday treasures. You can look here to see how to make one.
I think I'm going to make myself a few of these for all my trinkets :)
And of course I had to pick up some other things while I was at the thrift store! How cutesy are these fabrics!! Eeek!
Now off to Bday party #2. Jayden's little gift. I forgot to take pics of the things I got him, but I found the cutest red overalls and a charity shirt. Then I added some vintage kid's books (cuz there's nothing like the old stories) and the little box held the cutest seersucker shorts. He's gonna be pretty cute.
Jayden's monkey party!
How stinkin cute are these! And they were filled with lemon and cherry!
My lemon cupcake. Don't be jealous.
Jayden's fondant banana. He ate the whole thing surprisingly.

It's the Day of Love after all!

From roses to pom pom garland, there's all sorts of ways to add that Valentine's Day splash to your abode without shelling out an arm & a leg.
Are your bouquet of roses looking a little cliche this year? Cut them down and poke into an oasis ball. Voila! A hanging flower ball.

Super cheap and super easy! Requires one styrofoam wreath, one skein of creme yarn, red & green felt, & buttons.

Have any boring books laying around? Put them to good use and make a wreath! Rip out the pages and stain them with tea or coffee. Buy a wooden circle and assemble with glue. Top off with an adorable centerpiece.

How cute is this window garland! Purchase some heavy scrapbook paper and cut into 4 different sized strips. Use 8 per heart (not including the center piece) and staple into place! String through the top of the middle strip and connect all the hearts. So easy your kid could do it!

I squealed when I saw this pom pom window decoration! Use fishing line and thread through pink and red pom poms. Make several different ones and tie all the strings onto a long stick. Then hang above window!

Buy some thick coated wire from Michaels or Lowes and shape into any word you desire. Wrap it in any color yarn. So cute! It'd be perfect for a kid's name and to put it on their door.

Not the average day...

So this morning I woke up feeling like someone had ran over my head with a semi. Had to call the bossinator and make it a 'sick day'. Ick. But after staying in bed till 4, I woke up with a genius idea! I know, I guess these things just come to me in my sleep or something. Actually, I was browsing through some people's pet photos and thought, "Why not pet collar coats?" So this idea has really excited me and I know its probably not excited Frodo. The plan is to crochet or sew a cover for dog collars that can be for holidays or seasonal. So I've got to hurry and make some for Valentine's Day! This is a must! Frodo has to be the first bischon with a red felted collar and hearts around his neck. :) I will post the finished product soon!!

I'm preparing for Valentine's Day and this idea is sure to boot the January blues and give a little cheer! I love how simple it is too! Thanks for the gorgeous textiles and creativity How About Orange.
