Good Morning all Irishmen!

Today is the day of green!!! It is the day you get to pretend that you are irish (too bad for us, we're not pretending, red hair and all!) shamrocks, green tights, reubens, cabbage, mmmm this is making me crave. Well today I'm making green velvet whoopie pies! But, they're shaped like shamrocks. :)
Starting the day off right...it's not green but still seriously delicious.

Cream cheese frosting!

And here they are! Pipe some cream cheese frosting onto the velvet cookies and squish them together! A St. Patty's Day whoopie pie!

mmmmm.....

Here's the recipe : Make ME!

A day for Bdays!

Saturday was my day off which only happens once in a blue moon, but thank God I did because I had two very important birthday parties on my agenda. My best friend's son's 1st birthday, and one of our youth's sweet sixteen. Decided to capture the day since it was gorgeous out!

I'm pretty sure you can tell that I live in Illinois. Flat lands.

Gotta start the day off right, heart tights! Just like the ones I wore when I was little. hehe.
Hy husband's cousin did an amazing job!

The birthday girl and her preggo sissy.

Her headband that I made for her. Lace & baubles.
I love goodwill. You can always find everything there. Here's a before shot of the top I bought Breanna.
After: Flat flowers, buttons, and embroidered felt.
The origami gift box I made for her birthday treasures. You can look here to see how to make one.
I think I'm going to make myself a few of these for all my trinkets :)
And of course I had to pick up some other things while I was at the thrift store! How cutesy are these fabrics!! Eeek!
Now off to Bday party #2. Jayden's little gift. I forgot to take pics of the things I got him, but I found the cutest red overalls and a charity shirt. Then I added some vintage kid's books (cuz there's nothing like the old stories) and the little box held the cutest seersucker shorts. He's gonna be pretty cute.
Jayden's monkey party!
How stinkin cute are these! And they were filled with lemon and cherry!
My lemon cupcake. Don't be jealous.
Jayden's fondant banana. He ate the whole thing surprisingly.

House Favors!

I thought these were the most adorable little creations! I have to perfect mine though, I couldn't get the roof to stay put (hence all the creases). But these would be perfect for tea party favors or any party favor box! I love it, I want to live in a house that looks this colorful :)

Here's the tutorial! How about Orange

O' paper, how I despise thee

So today while trying to learn how to make origami dinosaurs on Youtube, I abruptly yelled at the computer and crumbled my paper into smithereens. All these weird reverse folds and creases were driving me insane!! I could not get it for the life of me. Alright, I guess I'm just not talented in that area. (This is my lame attempt at making a dinosaur garland for my nephew) So here are some of the dinos that made it alive.

Supposedly this is the T-rex. I don't buy it. Maybe I'm just the worst origami folder ever!
Some flying dino. Looks like a scary swan to me.
Hmm...not too sure how this dude walks. He has no legs.
Is this like a porcupine or something? I think my nephew needs to show me what's what.
Dragon? I think so, they're sooo much better than dinosaurs anyways!

Geez, it's that time again. Junk drawer dumping.

Yup, the moment I dread most about spring cleaning. Time to pull the junk drawer out and dump everything into a box. It's amazing what you accumulate in a year, I must say I am not proud of the "junk" that was lurking beneath the twisty ties and half eaten m&ms. I'm not sure how a small box can ferment, but it did. Haha, I was like "what the!?" Yea, not cool. So I got rid of the whole junk drawer entirely and revamped it. Take a looksy!

Yellow wallpaper that I found at goodwill! Hooray!
Finally, a new home for my dishtowels!
Now to revamp the kitchen table. I never iron my tablecloths but it made a huge difference!
I love my cork placemats! They're so cheery and delightful.
Spring is here!
Now now, what to do with the junk that was in the drawer? Well of course you gotta recycle it somehow! I've decided to make a pen holder using my tea canister.
Wrap it in bright colored cardstock and slap a label on there and you're done! Easy peasy!

Origami bow Garland

So lately I've been on an origami kick, folding, creasing, and glueing paper in weird and odd shapes. I ran across this bow technique and couldn't resist but to make a bow garland for my little niece's room. I strung each bow onto twine and it came out just how I imagined it! Now I've got to conquer making origami dinosaurs so my nephew doesn't feel left out! Haha.

Gift card Guitar picks

I saw this clever idea the other day on Zakka Life and decided to make my own. This idea is perfect because I am definitely not a fan of the guitar picks at the stores. I've hunted for some girly ones and could never find any. Now I can take my forever 21 and anthropologie used gift cards and make my own pretty ones.

I took my Banana Credit card and turned it into a guitar pick keychain
 Panera Gift card
Timothy's Banana Credit card. Perfect for his keys so he can jam out any given time.
