Mod Podge Easter eggs

I remember when I was younger my mom used to mod podge and I always thought it was so interesting. She also taught me this cool trick with magazine pages. It's sort of a butterfly effect which makes the pages transparent which is perfect for decoupaging. I thought I'd try this on my easter eggs!

Step 1: Get some mod podge. 

Step 2: Blow out some eggs and make sure you have a sponge brush.

Step 3: Get some thin materials to use for the decoupage like tissue paper, magazine pages, or cupcake wrappers.

I used these two pages for my decoupaging

 I decided to do a polka dot egg so I punched out magazine pages

 Got some of my vintage mini cupcake wrappers...

Put two together to make the egg stand

Step 4: Then you take a piece large enough to go around your egg and soak it in water. Make sure the whole thing soaks (despite what my pic looks like...haha)

Step 5: Now this is the hard part. You have to be really gentle or it will tear very easily. Make sure you lay the image side down. To start it, begin rubbing until it starts to roll. Once it starts to roll be very careful. You will have to keep adding water to the area you are working on, you don't want it to get dry.  Especially on the edges, they tear the easiest.

You will have an end result similar to this

Tada!! Translucent image for your egg! Make sure to pat it down before applying.

Step 6: You will use the sponge brush to dap the mod podge on the egg then wrapping the paper around it. It obviously won't fit so you will need to press and crease it continually. Who cares if it's not entirely smooth, just don't break the paper because it's even easier to tear with all that glue sliding around.

It's the Day of Love after all!

From roses to pom pom garland, there's all sorts of ways to add that Valentine's Day splash to your abode without shelling out an arm & a leg. 

Are your bouquet of roses looking a little cliche this year? Cut them down and poke into an oasis ball. Voila! A hanging flower ball.  

Super cheap and super easy! Requires one styrofoam wreath, one skein of creme yarn, red & green felt, & buttons. 

Have any boring books laying around? Put them to good use and make a wreath! Rip out the pages and stain them with tea or coffee. Buy a wooden circle and assemble with glue. Top off with an adorable centerpiece.

How cute is this window garland! Purchase some heavy scrapbook paper and cut into 4 different sized strips. Use 8 per heart (not including the center piece) and staple into place! String through the top of the middle strip and connect all the hearts. So easy your kid could do it! 

I squealed when I saw this pom pom window decoration! Use fishing line and thread through pink and red pom poms. Make several different ones and tie all the strings onto a long stick. Then hang above window! 

Buy some thick coated wire from Michaels or Lowes and shape into any word you desire. Wrap it in any color yarn. So cute! It'd be perfect for a kid's name and to put it on their door. 

Toilet roll Design

So I saved up my toilet and paper towel rolls and came up with this nifty little design! It's extremely easy to do too!

Gather a handful of rolls and mark them with 1 inch marks. Then cut them into slices. 

You will get a pile of pieces like these. Arrange them in a pretty design.

Then tada! Either glue or staple, whichever suits you. You can even spray paint it a pretty color. I'm thinking white for mine. Enjoy!
